If you are looking for some silence, flavours and scents or just wish to recharge your batteries, we are there awaiting you on a fabulous estate in Köveskál right in the  middle of Kali Basin. With its shady trees, playgrounds, sweet-scented herb garden, pools, rustic buildings and the terraced suites raised in the old almond garden, the huge park makes a special world: a place that is almost like home from home for a great many of our guests.

It is such a romantic place: the fireplace seems to be custom-made for great proposals and the wrought iron table in the garden for dinners. At times it is buzzing with families on holiday or happy wedding crowds. In the kitchen, delicious and welcoming meals are prepared of fresh and seasonal ingredients, something different every day. In cool weather tables are laid in the living room resembling an upper middle class parlour and in summer outside on the shady patio. Just sitting there after dinner, watching the stars and tasting special, mineral wine of the local wineries is all one could wish for.

The Káli Art Inn is timeless and unforgettable, like the Kali Basin itself. As one of our habitués puts it, ‘I stop where the Kali Basin begins; I take my suit off, put my shorts on, and my vacation begins’.

That’s all we can wish to all our present and future guests.

Káli Basin is one of the most precious pearls of the Balaton Uplands National Park. The countryside is calm in winter, delightful in spring, sparkling in summer and enchanting in autumn.

The village of Köveskál, situated in the geographical centre of the basin, preserves in its name the memory of the Kál family that settled here around the Hungarian conquest.

Köveskál is located in a wine-growing region. A number of wine merchants settled down here and built large upper middle class houses in the 17-18th centuries. Wine was transported in huge carts as far as Vienna, and as locals remember their wines were more famous and popular than those of Badacsony…

The two main buildings of Káli Art Inn and some of the outhouses were built in that period. The main building changed hands several times and even served as an officers’ casino for a short time. It has remained almost in its original state; now there are three suites in the building.

15 rooms of the guesthouse have been opened to guests since 2000; the restaurant was opened in 2009 and it is mainly meant to serve overnight guests but we are happy to welcome guests as well who just pop in for dinner.

The hotel and restaurant have received several international and Hungarian awards. Here are the most outstanding ones: in 2010 The Sunday Times voted Káli Art Inn in the 100 best boutique hotels in Europe and in 2013 we were awarded the recommended hotel title by travellers of TripAdvisor.
